PHILOSOPHICAL FRAGMENTS

Mr. Howard Hong, who translated Works of Love, reviewed on P. 372, (he is Prof. of Philosophy is St. College, Northfield, Minnesota) has completely revised Sweason's original translation of Philosophical Fragments to take full advantage of recent scholarship. Niein Thuistrop, a leading Danish scholar, has provided a new introduction and commentary. Thus we have a completely new edition of this important work which was first published in English in 1936. From this writing the student will discover the fundamental structure of Kierkegaard's Christian philosophy. It is principally concerned with the problem of how the Christian revelation, appearing in history, may be appropriated. Since the author felt the same destructive forces at work early in the 19th century which have created the havoc of the world of today, modern man is learning to pay more attention to this melancholy Dane. This will meet a real, if selective, demand.
