Even if Stevenson were not to be nominated this biography would stand as an eloquent picture of upper class American life. From the background of a sound, deeply rooted and educated family, Stevenson came, and his sister writes straightforwardly of their growing years in Bloomington and of her brother's personality, schooling, first interest in politics, and first public service in Washington and overseas. Then there is the challenge of governorship and finally, of the unsought nomination. Tie this in with Stevenson's book of his speeches.
