SHIPWRECK

Howard Pease unfolds just enough of his story in each chapter to keep the reader impatient for more answers to the intriguing questions about the disappearance of Renny Mitchum's father, who had been captain of the Mololo, a vanished vessel. Renny's image of his father as a hero changed radically after he signed on as mess boy aboard the Samarang. Was his father a no-good alcoholic? On the Island of Jorango, where Renny found his father, he also discovered the truth about his father's character. A sea-going- thriller. Fast tempo and facile presentation raise this a notch above the run-of-the-mill.
