This is just a touch more than the mystery stories Howard Rigsby sometimes writes--a glamoromantic drama which takes place at Nehaya, a California Ultima Thule to which a few people have retreated in refuge from earlier experiences--namely film actress Laura Robbins, at the end of an affair; and Christian St. Laurent, a physicist, whose first wife had committed suicide. None of this proves to be quite as restful as it should have been: another guest has an almost fatal fall; Laura receives threatening letters--""leave him alone,"" confirmed by a rifle shot; and at the end, all of it is reasonably resolved. You'll go along with it, primarily to find out what happened, and you'll forget it just as quickly as you read it. Women only.
