THE RIGHT DADLIER SINS by Hubert C. Libbey

THE RIGHT DADLIER SINS

By

Publisher: Longmans, Green

From all blindness of heart; from pride, vain-glory, and hypocrisy; from hatred, and , and all uncharitableness, Good Lord, deliver us"" -- so reads the Angli prayer book. And it is with this list of ""the eight deadlier sins"" that this book deals. Selected by the Anglican Bishop of London to be recommended for Lnten reading, it is a book calculated to induce that attitude of self-examination which is stressed during the Lnten season. Last the chapters on the eight deadlier sins be thought too negative in emphasis they are set in the framework of an opening chapter on ""The Joy of God"" and a concluding one on ""The God of Hope."" These eight sins are designated as ""deadlier"" because they are so complacently and tolerantly accepted in polite society. This is a well written book. Its phraseology is subtle, its analysis of human nature and its frailties searching. A book for church people of all denominations. To be played up for Lnten reading.
