LOS TRES REGALOS DE GUEGUE: ""Three Gifts of Old Man

An appealing little Nicaraguan legend, with an exotic flavor. Young Prince Macat goes hunting in the jungle with his friends, Agat and Tapecat. They help a needy old man, who rewards them by giving Agat neverending money, everlasting food to Tapecat and to Macat, the best gift of all, eternal courage and strength. When the boys become tribal chieftains, they save their peoples from the Spanish conquerors by using their gifts. The colored illustrations are simply done, like a child's Gauguin. Travel minded youngsters with an interest in native legends, will enjoy this. It is as fresh and gay as an Indian toy.
