THE SAINTS OF IRELAND by Hugh de Blaam

THE SAINTS OF IRELAND

By

Publisher: Bruce

A delightful sequel to his earlier book, St. Patrick, which acquaints the reader with two characters of great charm and influence. The first is St. Brigid, the daughter of a bondswoman and a lord, a great beauty with a rare combination of vision and wilfulness which she exercised to the full in founding the conventual life in Ireland in the sixth century. The second, St. Columcille (also known as St. Columba), also gifted in outward beauty and inner grace, was the son of a royal family from whom the High Kings were chosen. Refusing both the title of king and bishop, he pursued a montic life in Ireland and Scotland. Those who enjoy Irish stories as well as the religious will find these lives of interest.
