THE DARK ECHO

Light but not terribly bright. Steve Johnson, temporary Chief of Police of Broken Falls, Colo., is confronted with the death of the youngish, picturesque, provocative wealthy widow, Mrs. Hestwood. The willingness of the sheriff to call it an accident, the eccentricities and guilty behavior of all concerned, the general lack of co-operation, and a narrow escape for Steve are difficulties, though not insurmountable, and he gets the killer in the end. Nonchalant.
