MR. BEAMISH

Mr. Beamish, proof-reader for a printing plant, lives in a world of books, but a chance conversation with a grim sort of banker, draws him into real life as the catalyst of other people's affairs. There's plenty of literary chitchat to embroider a slightly sentimental tale of human kindness, which has likeable moments and characters. The action is fairly static, most of the plot is carried out by socratic dialog.
