KIRKUS REVIEW

This might almost be viewed as a companion volume to White's Making of a President. It has many of the same qualities -- a sense of immediacy and a sustained atmosphere of crisis. In fact, although the reporting is of current history-in-the-making, there is a feeling of suspense. Kennedy admirers will find their opinions reenforced; his detractors will be reluctant to accept Sidey's findings on a President who has ""met more crises than any one man should have to face"".
