FIVE GOLDEN WRENS

I liked this story. Children will, too. It has all the trappings of a proper folk tale; complete with a good king, a wicked queen, and a lowly maiden who marries the king and lives happily ever after. The introduction of a radio brings the folk tale up to date and adds an extra fillip. Both the humor and the story are much more childlike than this author's Chippendale Dam. The many drawings by the author have all the detail that delights young hearts and a lusty humor besides. Large print and well-spaced lines for second and third grade reading. An attractive book at a dollar.
