THE CREATIVE ADULT by Hughes Mearns Kirkus Star

THE CREATIVE ADULT

By

Publisher: Doubleday, Doran

I liked this immensely, although I realize that its market is somewhat circumscribed. There is so much of interest in the content, not only for the teachers, to whom it is chiefly directed, but for parents and for anyone concerned in enlarging his own horizons by developing his own creative powers. The focus is intentional; Mearns has the younger generation's interests at heart, and he feels that freer adult creative powers bring more creative power out of the young fry. But the application is there, for everyone who will take the trouble to read and digest. Mearns is a pioneer in the field of creative expression -- in verse, in prose, in musical cadences; his experience in revealing. He shows here how the same spark is latent in adults.
