KIRKUS REVIEW

Lee Mappin, successful crime writer, is challenged in a series of anonymous letters, to prevent a projected killing. Mappin focuses interest on his immediate entourage. There's a double crime trail, Mapping prevents one murder, not the one threatened; then a cover-up killing leads Mapping to the original murder, and the murderer. In the Footner slick manner -- easy reading but not very much to chew on.
