THE UNKNOWN COUNTRY: Canada and Her People

There have been better histories better travel books but I know of no of her book which gives the feel behind Canada as successfully as this one. What history there is forms an incredicable part of the section of which he writes; what travel material there is gives one a urge to go back. Unconsciously, one absorbs a great deal of the conflict and the national problems. He starts with French Canada, in its varied aspects, the Isle of Orleans, Quebec, the backwoods, Montreal; then goes on to Ottawa, to to the Maritime Provinces, New Brunswick, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Western British Columbia. Good pen portraits of her leaders.
