CLEAR THINKING by Hy Ruchlis

CLEAR THINKING

By

Pub Date: Oct. 24th, 1962
Publisher: Harper

Usually known as a writer on physics, Mr. Ruchlis this time has written a very unusual and interesting book intended to sharpen one's wits and show the value and importance of sound reasoning in today's complex world. Beginning with a discussion of why clear thinking is important, he then delves into science and superstitution, language and reasoning, improper reasoning, the nature, forming, and molding of opinions. Drawings, photographs, and cartoons supplement and often illustrate the problems, taken from everyday living, that he poses for solution through inductive and deductive reasoning. A separate section of the book provides step-by-step solutions to these problems. Highly readable and unique, this book should find an eager audience in the 8-11 group and up, but will probably be read by those whose wits and reasoning power are already a cut above the average.
