KIRKUS REVIEW

Within the span of ten hours, the lives of several are brought to climax on a feast day celebrating the installment of electricity in a small Italian town. The center of the stage is held by a grand little old lady, the essence of an old world fast disappearing, who learns that morning that she has not long to live. In opposition to the genteel grandmother, the era of gallantry and courteous deceptions she represents, are her son and grandson who are brought up short by present day realities with the loss of their heavily mortgaged estate, which is to be claimed on this feast day. Inclsive characterization, swift action in a pleasantly sentimental story by a new author.
