CRUSADE AGAINST HUNGER by I. W. Moomaw

CRUSADE AGAINST HUNGER

By

Pub Date: Feb. 1st, 1965
Publisher: Harper & Row

The author presents an account of the world-wide crusade against poverty undertaken by the Christian churches, in which from 1946-1963 he has taken an important part as a member of the staff of Agricultural Missions, Inc., founded by Y.M.C.A.'s John R. Mott. The story begins with the arrival of the author in India as an agricultural missionary straight out of agricultural college in Ohio, and continues to include an account of recent enterprises in agricultural missions going on in India, Pakistan, Korea, Japan, Africa, and elsewhere. Problems of soil depletion, animal disease, land-ownership, credits, water, are recurrent themes in the story. Unfortunately, little is said about these problems in relation to population increases or governmental policies on U.N. The narrative is anecdotal, and the reporting of direct conversation out of the past suggests that the author is possessed of almost total recall.
