Little Lisa shares her life on a Swedish farm to the delight of her newly made American friends. Noisy Village is composed of several adjoining farms brought even closer by the friendships of the children living there. How they spend their time, alone and with each other, is clearly demonstrated in these diary-like vignettes from the pen of nine-year-old Lisa. Lisa contemplates a most extraordinary birthday when her present was a room of her own, a reprieve from the one shared with two older brothers. She also tells us about the exciting day Olaf got his dog, the adventures during a snowstorm, Christmas in Noisy Village, crayfish expeditions and many experiences at school. The episodes vary with Lisa's life — some are subdued, others humorous- but all are filled with the special charm of a special little girl.
