RACE RELATIONS IN A DEMOCRACY by Ina Corinne Brown

RACE RELATIONS IN A DEMOCRACY

By

Pub Date: Nov. 7th, 1949
Publisher: Harper

This book holds some of the keys for the better understanding of race relations, preponderantly Negro-white relations in the United States. The author, a professor of Social Anthropology in Tennessee outs the props of prejudice from under one. His style is impersonal, reasonable, authentic. The greater part of the text is a perceptive survey of the historical aspects of the problem, its place in democracy, the psychological roots of prejudice, the status of race relations in the United States today. In a final summing up he points towards the goal and challenges people of good-will to give personal aid to changing conditions and to see the problem in its global context as part of a wider problem of human relations. This book is part of a series put out by the Bureau of Intercultural Education.
