Another dependable story of Nicodemis and the houn' dog, with a pet goose giving the houn' dog cause for worry during a period when the goose was unfailing companion. She aspired for the right to follow him, even into the house, but it took a fire -- and a rescue, in which the goose played a heroine's part, to win that right from Ma. And it lasted only until the goose found she had time only for her own goslings.
