NICODEMUS RUNS AWAY

There's scarcely a lag in the sustained interest in the adventures of the little colored boy. Nicodemus, and I, for one, am glad to find that he occasionally rebels against the program of helping his Many and toting his baby brother and taking care of his little sister. But things get very complicated when he tries to run away, and -- after sending his small try home with Petunia, and spending a hungry night in the woods, he decides it is all too much bother and goes back home.
