This book seems to offer almost everything for the beginning reader or the attentive listener. It is a nice squarish book with substantial cloth binding, large clear type, the author's bold black and white illustrations opposite every page of text. It is an ideal story for group participation, about a whale who lives alone near the top of the world, and is sure he is the largest animal in a small world. The sea lion isn't so sure, and suggests they take a trip. So-singing jovial verses- they bump into one continent after another, and the animals of each continent come to meet them, and one animal from each continent joins him for a piggyback ride for the rest of the journey. Children love the repetition and the suspense. A book easy to sell, easy to circulate. Third grade readers.
