THE TWO CARS

The d'Aulaires teach a solemn lesson in safe driving, but were it not for their accompanying colored lithographs, the unimaginative text would make a dull book. Two cars, one old and one new go for a ride one evening to prove which of them is the better. The new one breaks rules and is reprimanded by a policeman. The old car is about to get home first when he is stopped by the same cop, to be congratulated for safety performance, thus losing the race but gaining the glory. Rather uninspiring.
