DEUX: ""Two

A study of manners, and morals, in the present day well-to-do post war generation. From a circle of emancipated boys and girls, where older standards have brusquely been unsettled, where sexual dalliances with a certain alcoholic aura are the order of the day, two are chosen to marry, Marianne and Antoine, Marianne, forgetting the past, takes on a bourgeois morality which Antoine soon finds tepid and becomes involved in an affair with his sister-in-law which ends in suicide. She also turns to extra-curricular activities -- until by the close they return to each other for security. Fairly keen analysis, clever contrasts of violent incident and character observation, and holding reading.
