KIRKUS REVIEW

An old and tired theme reappears in a new form as Benjamin, a dissatisfied horse who longs to be a unicorn, is granted his wish by a magical cat but finds life as a unicorn much too hazardous, regrets his mistake and with luck on his side, returns to his former self. Expressive illustrations in 2 colors by Ruth Van Sciver, some winning dialogue, 'twixt cat and horse-unicorn, and the riding academy setting, with all its eager young learners, are the distinguishing characteristics granted a basically unoriginal story line.
