BLUEY'S RUNAWAY KANGAROO

In this sequel to Bluey from Down Under (1962, p.177, J-55), the young lad of Sydney, Australia, wins a joey-- a baby kangaroo--on a quiz program. He is thrilled to at last have a pet of his own, but his enchantment is short-lived, because his pet takes off for the wild country after a few days. Bluey, his parents, and a friend,- a newspaper reporter, set out to find Hoppit. A few adventures strung together do not constitute a very interesting plot, and Bluey only exists as a boy with one desire-- to find Hoppit. Young children who wish to have pets of their own, may appreciate Bluey's distress, but the author does not make enough use of the Australian countryside as background.
