PUDGE: A Summertime Mixup

Pleasant to scrappy fifth grade doings, quite observantly set down, and in which the parties learn things about life and how to get along with other people. Dick and Ellen Evans are digusted when they find their queer new schoolmate Pudge is going to be next door for the summer at Eagle Bay. But after many picnics and fishing trips and in particular the outcome of a hobby contest sponsored by an Eagle Bay dowager, Pudge's good egg characteristics emerge and he's one of the gang for keeps. There's a little mystery to spark it and snappy sketches by Peggy Bacon. Gauge it a little older than the Beverly Cleary Henry and Beezus market.
