KIRKUS REVIEW

A rather gentle story of small town life centers around eleven year old Lorie, her mother and two younger brothers. A new boy comes to town and makes a valuable addition to Lorie's circle, since his father owns the moving picture theater and distributes passes. But Lorie's mother decides she must go to work so Loris and Jim are sent to live with relatives on a farm while mother takes the baby to get experience in Buffalo. Lorie is allowed to visit her best friend in Wheeler and while there is able to help John (the new boy's) father and in return Mr. Hurley offers a chance for Lorie's mother to return to a business of her own, so the family is reunited. Some fairly grown-up-behavior for an eleven-year old, but the daily incidents and the fun things kids do will satisfy readers of this age.
