KIRKUS REVIEW

In 1937 Jerry Holt was fifteen and like most American boys was keen to fly and to make models. He and his family lived near a field on Long Island. His neighborhood pals were also air-minded so they organized a Glider Club, and his brother Phil get a job with American Airlines. Later his family moved to Jackson Heights to be near LaGuardia Field. You feel the undercurrent of the approaching war and by the time of Peari Harbor Jerry and his group are almost all in some phase of flying for the U.S.A. A boys' story which clearly shows the trends in the average American home.
