More about Evie and the Wonderful Kangaroo, these episodes make fine and funny reading matter for beginners who are not afraid of tackling and sounding out a few words they may not have seen in print before. Cookie the Kangaroo is treated with a casual familiarity by her young mistress, Evie Dell, who by now has gotten used to having such a pet around. Yet there are problems. Disturbed that the next door cats dislike her, Cookie rescues one of them from a stream and they become firm friends. Then Cookie gets homesick for other kangaroos and almost emplanes for Australia. Yet she stays- and these and any further adventures of Cookie will always find a warm welcome.
