KIRKUS REVIEW

This anthology is a sampling of the thoughts, statements and writings of some Americans chosen from all periods and walks of life. Present here are excerpts from the autobiographies of Benjamin Franklin, Mark Twain, William Allen White, Sol Bloom, Mary Roberts Rinehart, P.T. Barnum, Charles Lindbergh (We), Davy Crockett, Helen Keller, and Frank Lloyd Wright. Other pieces range from James Thurber's humorous reminiscence of his college days at Ohio State, through Irvin S. Cobb, Gertrude Stein's Autobiography of Alice B. Taklas to a section from the Apache Chief Geronimo's Story of His Life. A wide enough selection to interest a good many types of readers.
