MEN WHO MADE AMERICA: The Founders of A Nation

A book especially designed for foreign students learning English as a second language, these chapters tell about Americans who contributed to our nation's growth as well as significant aspects of American history. Short sketches on important historical figures. William Fenn, Thomas Jefferson, Eli Whitney, Mark Twain- are included among accounts of the Continental Congress, the forty-niners, westward expansion, etc. Each reading concludes with comprehension and vocabulary tests. There is a controlled syntax and vocabulary but the level of instruction is quite advanced. Foreign students in search of supplementary reading should find this helpful. It is not recommended as lively history for American students.
