THE MANY FACES OF WORLD WAR I

Here is a straightforward account of WW I from the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand to the Versailles treaty. The emphasis is on the American contributions to the Allied effort. The ""faces"" of the title flash past very quickly indeed, with many covered but few memorably drawn. The title implies more than the book produces for this approach. The author's forte is the description of the way troops are deployed and the upper echelon strategic/political reasons that affected defense and offense.
