Bill Carson is sort of the unwitting, unwilling hero of Kerwin High School; he managed to pull off that crucial game with his Two Minute Dribble (see the earlier book) and now he is trying to play baseball even though he never gets a hit at the plate. He also is the candidate for President of A.A., an office for which he didn't want to run until an opponent's ""left-handed pressure"" forces him to accept. Most of the book however is a game-by-game description as Bill proves more valuable defensively than he expects to be, and with a surprise bunt technique (learned on television) achieves another important win.... Actually youngsters might as well be watching television as reading this; its values are as modest as Bill.
