VERY YOUNG VERSES

A Must book for all mothers and teachers of the young and very young. An ideal collection of verse concerning familiar things, -- insects, animals, birds, the weather, children and their possessions, the dentist, the barber, the seasaw, the swing, flowers and simple prayers. Many old favorites are here, -- Lewis Carroll, Eugene Field, Stevenson, Christine Rossetti, Walter de la Mare, Laura Richards, Dorothy Aldis; there are a few carols and lots of humor. The chief merit lies in the fact that it lacks the ""precious"" quality that too often characterizes verse for children; there's gaiety, fun and earthiness. We've not seen the finished book -- the size is to be b"" x 7 3/8"" -- the illustration to be by Mildred Bronson. But judged on content, it can't miss.
