A short story writer's first full length entry into women's wear -- with an item well ahead of the average level. New York and suburbia as background for the story of Lorna, her husband Richard, and Carol, his ""office wife"". Twenty years of household and children has dulled Lorna's response, she finds herself unable to cope with Carol's youth , brilliance, fascination; she gives Richard his divorce, reassesses herself and puts self pity behind her, and gets back the thing that she needs to cope with Richard and her children, bogged down in the mess of their lives through the paternal pattern breakdown. Extremely well done.
