RIVER-BOY: The Story of Mark Twain

This is top-ranking biography for this age group. It reads like a first rate story, and yet Miss Proudfit has held close to the actual facts of Samuel Clemens' life, which certainly was as entertaining as any fiction. One gathers together, bit by bit, the threads of the factual background for Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, without their being forced down one's throat. The line drawings by W.C. Nims are excellent, and carry the feel of the background and personalities.
