Fortunately emancipated in and from the genre, Isabelle Holland's third story is about book editor Antonia Moncrieff who inherits a large old house in Brooklyn and a once-famous author (with whom she had fallen in love earlier) at the same time. Both have to be renovated--particularly Adam who had been in a drunken driving accident which took the life of a child as well as his eyesight. And then there's the fact that Antonia's former husband (about whom she'd lied justifiably to her youngster) is once again around and menacingly about. Miss Holland is the exception that's proving the rule that practice makes perfect entertainment of this kind.
