TOLD IN THE TWILIGHT

Navajo Indians folk rhymes and stories, and Pueblo Indian stories, most of them based on factual background, with a few of legendary character. The author claims no originality, for the stories were told to her by children in her Indian school in Albuquerque, and in many instances they were stories of experiences older Indians had handed down. Quite different from the usual collections, since these stories reflect the life and customs and events, rather than the folk lore. The illustrations are a distinct hurdle, as they have no charm or distinction.
