Nine months in the dreaded Inner Prison, continually ill; two months of solitary; then imprisonment with women of the underworld, awaiting the sentence of five years hard labor. Bad conditions rendered her unfit for any work but teaching and nursing, and after a year she was released and exiled. She escaped to England.
