A disappointingly uninspired book, when compared with such exciting books about weather as Vetter's Visibility Unlimited or Mills' Climate Makes the Man. This is a resume of weather in general, the formations of clouds and their names; winds, from breezes to hurricanes, and where they occur; what is meant by ""mean temperature"" and the like. The average layman will find nothing not already known; the student will find the presentation pedantic. The body of the book covers the normal expectancy of weather in various parts of the world (hence some possible value to the armed force?) and lengthy tables set forth temperature, humidity, etc., for cities and districts around the world. Then -- when you begin to think -- ""Now it can be known"" the author states the old truth, that you cannot count on the weather, it is still unpredictable. Limited.
