750 DISHES FROM OVERSEAS

This isn't the sort of cook book that catches my eye. There are doubtless many appetizing tidbits buried in text, but the arrangement is haphazard, the style is utterly without charm, and there was nothing to make one feel one must keep on reading. Original in the type of thing included, in the variety of backgrounds (Austrian, Danish, French, Dutch, Hungarian, Italian, Norwegian, Swedish, Spanish, Indian, English colonial and provincial). The subject should lend itself to a fascinating recapturing of the feel of the countries, but there is nothing of this -- either in the recipes themselves or in the presentation.
