Mr. J. B. Phillips herewith adds a companion volume to his widely read and acclaimed Your God is Too Small. Convinced, as always, that when the Christian religion is truly understood and faithfully practised, it is adequate for modern life with all its doubts and uncertainties. He is also sure that the Christian Church is not doing a very good job of communicating its saving Gospel to a hungry, confused world. It is up to those who believe that their God is eternal to prove that their God is also contemporary. There must be a new grasp of Christian humanism, every bit as much at home in the world, God's world, as the fascinating materialists, which can save us from the subtle deterioration of materialism. Dr. Phillips spells out what he means in a book that will challenge, the complacent and delight that growing number of militant Christians who look to him for leadership because they can understand what he is saying.
