HOW MAN BECAME A GIANT

Another popular science book, the story of the evolution of man -- and quite different in approach and treatment from the Knapp-Fisher book reviewed above. This concerns itself specifically with man, from our first common ancestors with the apes, to the upright stance, the acquisition of tools, the development of language, dwellings, domestication of animals, customs, arts, religion. Occasionally errs towards the patronizing, talking down to young readers with ""Well, what do you think"" and the like. But has a flare.
