An International spy tale with an added element -- a sort of prevision of a horror world to come -- as Tim Bodford, painter, follows the slender thread of evidence which his cousin Isabel had given him on her death bed, with the request that he trace -- through it-her missing husband. From London to New York, thence to Peru and Chile and ultimately to Australia the clues bring Tim repeatedly to the edge of disaster until his activities provide the catalyst that brings down a menacing empire. Good reading, laced with suspense.
