A story of dual personality, in which a conventional, stodgy man of middle age is precipitated into his altar ago by a petty quarrel over radio programs at home. For six months he makes a new life for himself, remembering nothing of the years that had intervened since the war. In this new personality, he advances toward success, in business and in love -- then a crossing of paths precipitates the inevitable, and the shock throws him back into his former personality. A good story, and fascinating from the psychological viewpoint, convincingly told. A departure from Beresford's earlier books, and more popular.
