The Story of Communism in America and How to Fight It- this-between its subject, its authorship, and the strong publisher backing- certainly bears watching. But the reader, who expects something of the drama of the F.B.I. Story, or any of the sensational and/or revelational material the title might suggest, may well be disappointed. For this is- as it is intended to be- a book which explains communism, what it is, how it operates, and what we need to know to combat it, and there is very little casework to illustrate the case in point. The derivation of Communism- in Marx and Engels; its activation by Lenin; its perpetuation- to the extreme- by Stalin, covers the historical background. Its claims- and conversion of American citizens (largely idealists- but also misfits and opportunists); life in the party and the heavy demands upon its members; the disciplinary program; the tactics and techniques of infiltration above ground and under; the use and abuse of minorities; and finally some general guidance on how one can spot, expose and oppose communist efforts conclude what is a systematic text on the theory of Communism and its application in America..... An explanation- and of course an admonition- which is systematic and sober, undramatized and depersonalized.
