THE HEALTHY HUNZAS

Something special for the yogurt-and-vegetable-juice clan. The Hunzas, it seems, are a tribe in northern India who eat raw fruits, use only natural fertilizers, and have sex relations once in three years. Because (in spite?) of this, they are very healthy and intelligent, says the author, who admits he has never been there. Seriously, though, he makes his points concerning soil depletion by chemical fertilizers (stated better in Our Plundered Planet by Osborn -P. 166 of the 3/15 issue) and other matters of agricultural and nutritional concern. The general message would seem to be that all our civilized ills, from athlete's foot to premature baldness, could be eliminated of laying on of properly proportioned, well-rotted manure.
