KIRKUS REVIEW

Out of no case and no client, Silas Booth, private investigator in disgrace and without a license, builds up motives out of background and proves murder. With plenty of angles, but no cash, and with real estate, a dead man's secretary as bait. Booth cleans up the crime of the orange groves of California. Dry- rather than spry.
