Dahlias have become increasingly popular in recent years, due to the interest in flower shows, the changing climate and the many new varieties that have appeared. For dahlias bloom under almost any conditions and can be found to answer almost any need as far as height, color and blooming time is concerned. Mr. Roberts is so enthusiastic over dahlias that he has done a very thorough job on the varieties, care, propagation, etc., and a thoroughly infectious job in spreading his enthusiasm. Unlike many horticulturists he is a great believer in shows, feeling that the competition is productive and the friendships and contacts with other gardeners stimulating. His book will introduce both the amateur and professional to many new varieties and contains many excellent suggestions.
